I'm a Louisiana BSU gal and I stumbled on your blog while searching for info on Udell and Betty Smith. I served on state council @4 years and was state sec one year, so I spent a lot of time at his house. What a fun story! Although I went to Centenary, my mom and grandfather and many more family members went to LSU. I remember that team and my grandpa wrote about Dale Brown in his books and newspaper columns over the years. (My grandpa ran track for LSU in the 1930s when they won a national championship.)...Anyway, I enjoyed reading your blog...Tim Robinson (LSU-S) and I are trying to find out if Mrs. Smith is still living... Best wishes to a fellow BSUer. (I'll never get used to "BCM.")

Very nice Mike. I remember my first LSU game was sitting next to your little brother watching LSU and Tennesee play to a 14-14 tie. Willie Gault returned the opening kickoff of the 2nd half 98 yds for a td. I was hooked then.

Mike, I just discovered your blog and was reading some older posts when I found this one. I drive alone throughout the day as a home-health physical therapist, and I find that I fill that time with the same things you do. I recently canceled my XM radio, but I still fill that time with podcasts and audiobooks. I sometimes feel God asking me " Are you going to talk to me this morning, or listen to that podcast?" Sometimes I reply with " just a short prayer" that ends up lasting until my next stop. Much more satisfying than any content I've pulled off of the web!

I was really hoping that your posting this twice meant that the "tomorrow's post" mentioned was up. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for an encouraging and challenging post. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Oh yeah, might as well admit it. The title dared me in...

Peace my friend.

No problem. If you come across a title of interest, pass it along but don't worry over it. Maybe I'll be able to recommend something to you for a change. That would be quite a milestone actually.

I've been on plenty of uncertain job paths since leaving Louisiana. And I tend to have some kind of what-am-I-doing-with-my-life crisis every single August. Somehow, I always end up in a place where I can grow and be useful. The anxiety is real though, so I'll be praying that it does not eat away at the excitment or cloud your vision. Blessings to you and yours.

I've not helped you very much with your prayer question...but I'm still thinking about it! One of my problems responding is that my library is packed up in boxes because of this job transition. But, I'm still thinking about your question. As to my transitions, I am genuinely excited about the prospects of working in a local church or back on a campus again. I've missed that day to day ministry. Peace and blessings you you and the fam. Thanks for the prayer.

Love Emily Dickinson. She speaks powerfully to the soul.

Ironic that I asked you about prayer when I should have been sending prayers your way. I'll get that right this time.
